We are excited to announce that we are looking to recruit volunteers to join our dedicated Children and Young People (CYP) bereavement support team at space2grieve.
We are a local bereavement support service, offering free, confidential one-to-one support to anyone living in the Richmond borough.

what we are looking for
essential requirements for CYP support specialists
- Experience working with children in a professional or voluntary capacity, for example, in a school, nursery, church or youth club
- Experience using counselling/listening skills in paid or unpaid employment.
- Awareness of the impact of personal experience of death and bereavement.
- Ability to manage sensitively and with compassion the needs of a young client within the boundaries of the service offered.
- Ability to maintain client and volunteer confidentiality.
- Good basic IT skills including email.
- Ability to be self-reflective, autonomous and practice self-care.
- Awareness of and commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion and the implications for supporting bereaved clients

training
A full programme of training will be provided, which will include a mix of both theory and practice, allowing plenty of opportunity for skills development, particularly in active listening.
There will be pre-course reading and preparation prior to training. Training will take place at the ETNA Community Centre in Twickenham on the following dates and it is a course requirement that you attend all sessions, induction and complete a safeguarding module.

Thursday 1st May 7.00-9.00pm
Saturday 10th May 9.30-4.00
Thursday 15th May 7.00-9.00pm
Sunday 1st June 9.30-4.00
Saturday 7th June 9.30-4.00
Saturday 14th June 9.30-1.00 (half day)
The cost of the full training is £350 which is payable ahead of the course.
We do recognise that there are circumstances where the cost of training may be prohibitive. If you cannot afford this amount, but would like to apply, please talk to us about whether you qualify for our bursary scheme.
