Jenny Harris, co-founder of space2grieve, wins Trustee of the Year award

Last week, Thursday 16 May, Jenny Harris was awarded Trustee of the Year at the Richmond upon Thames’ annual Community Heroes Awards Ceremony held at York House in Twickenham.

The Community Heroes Awards aim to highlight and honour those working and living in Richmond upon Thames who go above and beyond to make their community a better place to live, work and learn.

Richmond Council reported how space2grieve is helping to create a system of deeply personalised bereavement support, making a profound impact on the mental health and wellbeing of residents navigating loss.

space2grieve recognised for helping local residents navigate loss

Jenny, after many years of volunteering in the bereavement sector, has worked tirelessly to set up space2grieve, a local charity, which provides free, confidential support to all Richmond residents who have been bereaved, ‘no matter when, no matter how’.

Jenny attended the award ceremony with her co-founder Mary Parry. It was a wonderful chance for both to hear how space2grieve is acknowledged and recognised within the local community.

Reflecting on the evening, Jenny shares:

“It was an honour to be both nominated and shortlisted for one of Richmond’s community heroes awards. Being alongside those who are giving so much to the less advantaged in our Borough and then to win Trustee of the Year was fantastic! A true reflection of the trust in space2grieve’s ability to continue to support and care for those bereaved in Richmond borough.”

if you’ve been bereaved, no matter when, no matter how, space2grieve can support you.
